Any help for the old lady in class?

I tried to call about a background check for future visits to KSD.  They said I needed some kind of code and the only code I saw was for the Education Dept.  Anyone know what that code is that we need to use?  Thanks.  Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Great topic! First...did you go through EKU and this link for the Background check?

Site Visits for this class - will not be in classrooms at KSD. We are trying to be respectful of many observers and students are in their classrooms. This semester they have practicum students and another class that will be going there.

We will be going to KSD in the evening to visit and work with the students who stay during the week in the dorms. Because we will be going as a class and EKU students are supervised you do not need a background check for this visit.

You do need a background check to visit other deaf ed classrooms around the state. The list of those teachers and more specific instructions about that is in the assignment link on Blackboard. We will be going over all of this in detail in class. See the schedule for which night.

Now, I realize I didn't answer a question about "a code." I'll be interested what others might share and if there are other questions relative to this topic.

  2. I'm quite intrigued by this "code," too. I never knew how to even look into getting a background check, but at least I have some idea. Thank you, Amy!

  4. I am glad that you are on top of things like this!! I guess I hadn't given much thought on to the back ground checks for our visit.
P.S Age is just a number. You act quite young to me!

  5. I was required to get a background check for an education class because I have required clinical hours and my professor sent me an email with a code. I don't know if it is different for different classes or not.

  6. Amy,
I also had to get a background check for my EDF class I am taking because I am observing at Model Laboratory School. I got my background check through a website called QualifiedFirst by Verified Credentials. You do have to pay for it and I think it gives you an option of what school you want it mailed to if I remember correctly... Hope this helps!

  7. Does anyone know what a background check requires, if anything?

  8. Haven't looked into it since beginning of the semester but I know it was $40. Looking to shadow? Mr. Peavler was a wonderful speaker!
