KSD Field Trip Thursday

Good Morning Everyone! Hope you all are having a great day. I am here to say that I am very excited to go to KSD on Thursday. I have never been or even never seen the school either. I am excited to learn what its "all about". What are some things that you might want to learn from this experience, or hope to see while going to this school. Have a great day.

  1. I have never been to or ever seen KSD! I am very nervous about this visit because I am not a very good signer! But just like the last trip I think it will turn out to be very fun.

  2. I have never been either. I am excited to go but also nervous at the same time because my ASL is a little rusty. I am excited to see more kids sign, so hopefully that happens!

  4. I am very excited to go on this trip, though I am also a little nervous. It will be so different than what we are used to. Like Megan I have driven past it but never visited, though I have always wanted to. I hope that while we are here we will get to interact with some of the students and see what life is like there.

  5. I would really just like to see the school and meet some of the students that go there and the teachers that work there. I'm very excited to go because maybe one day I will be working there or helping out.

  6. I am late to respond, however the KSD visit went great! It was my first time visiting the campus and it gave insight to what it's really like to be around students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Seeing the middle school students at the dance was awesome and I enjoyed watching them signing with other students from our class (I am only in ASL 101, so my ASL skills aren't that great right now). I am grateful for the experience because it makes me realize even more that I am in the right field and I can't wait to work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in the future!

  7. I'm a little late to respond as well, but thought it was fun! it was great seeing the classroom environments, seeing the different types of materials they utilized in the classrooms compared to my high school. The standard U shape, the standing desks, and the smart boards in the room made for an efficient way to teach Deaf individuals. I loved it!

  8. I feel KSD was beneficial for perspectives into the Deaf culture and how they function as a community. Their style was unique, and honestly my favorite thing was literally being able to feel the music from certain parts of the building. Their implementations for their students and the amount of work they put into making their education worth while is astounding because my high school never took the time for even hearing students (we didn't have Deaf mainstreamed students). I just thought it was very insightful overall.
